B.C. Coastal Discovery
Breathtaking scenery and incredible landscape
DAY 1: Toronto to Kamloops, BC
From your joining point today, you will
be taken at Pearson International Airport
where we will join our air flight to Kelowna,
BC. Upon your arrival in Kelowna, you will
then enjoy a relaxing short Coach drive to
Kamloops, BC. Arriving at your hotel and
the evening will be yours to prepare for the
next morning.
DAY 2: Williams Lake, BC
Breakfast, each morning will be a sure way
of starting your day off right. Today we
make our way to Williams Lake, we visit the
Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park
and experience the rich cultural history
of the Secwepemc people of the interior
Shuswap group. Their attractive museum
exhibits incorporate the oral history and
legends along with historical photographs,
illustrations and artifacts. Then, it’s off to
Williams Lake along the scenic Fraser River
Canyon. (B)
DAY 3: Bella Coola, BC
Journeying to Bella Coola is an adventure.
It’s a full day of travel today as we venture
west to the coast. The Bella Coola Valley is
home to friendly communities nestled in the
Coast Mountains, with plenty of waterfalls,
scenery and wildlife. The Bella Coola
River winds along the valley floor through
settlements and farms. The town of Bella
Coola sits at the end of the valley where the
ocean swallows up the land in a tidal dance
that is ancient and predictable. (B)
DAY 4: Bella Coola, BC
The Norwegians, who had originally
immigrated to farms in the Valley, found
commercial fishing more lucrative. They
and the Nuxalk caught spring and sockeye
salmon, and canneries were built along the
inlet and at the mouth of the Bella Coola
River. A three-hour tour includes lunch of
barbecued salmon and time to explore the

remnants of a once-prosperous industry
and the tiny community that was home
to some of the employees. Reminders of
the early days are the square-timbered,
hand-adzed log houses and barns as well
as the place names. In the afternoon we
visit the Norwegian Heritage House, which
is typical of a Scandinavian home from this
era. Come and join us tonight for Dinner
and you will have the chance to meet new
friends. (B,L,D)
DAY 5: Port Hardy, BC, Vancouver
Island
Today may be the high point of the whole
tour for some people as we board the BC
Ferry service for a 13 hour sailing along
the beautiful channels and coast of British
Columbia’s mid coast. Lunch and dinner will
be enjoyed aboard the ferry today, so have
a relaxing day, with time to read, view the
scenery, watch for marine life and enjoy the
bracing sea air as we arrive into Port Hardy,
on the northern end of Vancouver Island
this evening. (B,L,D)
DAY 6: Campbell River, BC
A short distance south of Port Hardy is the
community of Port McNeil, and just south
of Port McNeil, is the photogenic village of
Telegraph Cove. Starting out as a telegraph
station in the early 1900’s it grew with a
fish saltier and lumber mill. Many of the
village’s buildings were built on stilts over
the water and still stand today. While here
we’ll visit the Whale Interpretive Centre.
Then we continue south to Campbell River
and visit the Campbell River Museum which
features a brilliant display of First Nations
and early life on the coast. Arriving at our
hotel in Campbell River, the evening will be
yours to explore or relax. (B)
DAY 7: Vancouver, BC
We continue our coastal adventure by
travelling south to Nanaimo and catching
