The Best of Northern Ontario
Touring gold mines and viewing polar bears
DAY 1: Toronto to North Bay
From your local joining points we gather
together aboard the Motor Coach for a
relaxing drive into Northern Ontario. In the
afternoon we enjoy a boat cruise on the
delightful RMS Segwun on beautiful Lake
Muskoka. Later we continue to North Bay,
for our first overnight. Dinner this evening is
included to welcome everyone together as
a group! (D)
DAY 2: Timmins
A casual morning breakfast before we
continue north to Cochrane and a visit to
the new Polar Bear Habitat, which also
serves as the world’s only Polar Bear
re-habilitation facility. Later we arrive in
Timmins for a look at this large mining
community, that advertises itself as “The
City with a Heart of Gold”. (B)
DAY 3: Sudbury
Leaving Timmins on a southerly route,
we travel some of the backroads of
Northern Ontario on our way to Sudbury.
A picnic lunch has been provided for your
enjoyment. In the afternoon, upon reaching
Sudbury, we visit Science North, featuring
some amazing new exhibits, including
Dynamic Earth, a detailed look below the
surface of the earth. This evening we are in
the beautiful city of Sudbury. (B,L)
DAY 4: Home
This morning we bid farewell to the City
of Sudbury as we travel south past Parry
Sound to Midland. Here on the shores of
Georgian Bay, surrounded by Tall Ships
and Historical Buildings we visit the Kings’
Wharf Theatre for one of two delightful
shows. In June we delight to the sounds
of Stompin Tom Conners in a show to his
tribute, featuring songs like “Bud the Spud”
and “Sudbury Saturday Night”. In July
we see the show “Sorry…I’m Canadian”;
a light hearted look music, humour and
political satire that combine to create this
colourful country Canada! In September we
visit the Orillia Opera House for a musical
biography of famous entertainer, Fred
Astaire, entitled What A Swell Party This Is!
After the matinee, we return home to our
communities from which we departed. (B)
