DAY 7: Corner Brook, Newfoundland
This morning we visit the Salmon
Interpretation Centre and learn about the
life-cycle of this very popular fish. Then we
travel to Corner Brook, Newfoundland’s
most westerly city. Corner Brook is
Newfoundland’s second largest city and is
the site of the island’s first industrial sawmill
and one of the world’s largest pulp and
paper mills. Tonight our accommodations
are in Corner Brook, along with Dinner
together as a group. (B,D)
DAY 8: St. Anthony, Newfoundland
Today we will travel up the Viking Trail
stopping along the way to view the
Arches, a natural phenomenon carved
over many centuries by the sea. We will
visit the National Historic Park at Port Au
Choix and the museum which features the
Maritime Archaic Indian History. The many
interesting artifacts on display make this
an intriguing site. Our journey will take
us along the coastline to overnight in St.
Anthony for the next two nights. (B,L)
DAY 9: St. Anthony, Newfoundland
This morning we will visit Sir Wilfred
Grenfell’s former home as well as the
Grenfell Mission and the Hospital named
after him. In the afternoon we will visit the
first European settlement in North America,
L’Anse aux Meadows, the site of the Viking
Village where Leif the Lucky is believed to
have settled in the year 1000 AD. Across
the road we also visit Norstead, where
actors bring to life a working Viking Village.

DAY 10: L’Anse Au Clair, Labrador
Up early this morning to catch the ferry,
across the Straits of Belle Isle to Southern
Labrador. We will visit the Basque
Whaling station recently discovered by
archaeologists and named as a heritage
site for Canada. Here we will tour the site
and learn about the way of life and the “11
modern techniques” used by the whalers
of those long ago times. Tonight we will
spend in Labrador at L’Anse Au Clair.

DAY 11: Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
Today we will take the ferry back to the
Island of Newfoundland and travel along
the spectacular coastline to Gros Morne
National Park. This afternoon we take in the
spectacular scenery of Gros Morne National
Park, with a stop at the Interpretation
Centre for their fascinating film about
the Park. Next we will take a boat from
