DAY 1: Whitecourt, Alberta
From your local Airport you will fly to
Edmonton. Upon arrival in Edmonton, we
meet our fellow travelers and transfer to our
Whitecourt Hotel. Get to know everyone
tonight at Dinner. (D)
DAY 2: High Level, Alberta
Northwest from Whitecourt, today we travel
through scenic Peace River country, making
our way to High Level, Alberta for overnight.

DAY 3: Hay River, NWT
Today we cross the 60th Parallel, and
enjoy a picnic lunch along the MacKenzie
Highway. Known as the “Waterfalls” Route,
we will make picture stops at Alexandra
Falls and Louise Falls. From Hay River’s Vale
Island travel across the East Channel onto
the Dene Reserve to visit the Dene Cultural
Institute. Tonight we are in Hay River on the
shores of Great Slave Lake. (B,L)
DAY 4: Fort Smith, NWT
A visit this morning, to Wood Buffalo
National Park, which was declared a
UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. You
will see karst sinkholes at the Angus Fire
Tower, Wood Buffalo Interpretive Centre
and herds of bison. With 230 species of
birds in the park, including the Whooping
Crane, binoculars are a must. In the
afternoon we arrive in Fort Smith to tour the
Northern Life Museum. (B)
DAY 5: Fort Providence, NWT
Return today through the National Park,
stopping at Lady Evelyn Falls and the small
Slavey community of Kakisa. A short ferry
ride brings you to Fort Providence where
a delightful evening awaits you starring a
local Dene artisan, who demonstrates some
unique crafts such as Moose Hair Tufting or
Porcupine Quill Art. (B)
DAY 6: Yellowknife, NWT
Begin your day traveling through the
MacKenzie Bison Sanctuary and from
there travel by Rae-Edzo, the largest Dene
Northwest Territories
This tour will take you above the Arctic Circle,
to Canada’s Far North

community in the Northwest Territories. On
arrival in Yellowknife early this afternoon
a Guided City tour will introduce you to
the city built on dreams, perseverance and
ingenuity. (B,L)
DAY 7: Yellowknife, NWT
Watch for an abundance of birdlife this
morning, as you cruise on Great Slave Lake.
It is not uncommon to view Eagles, Arctic
Terns and Osprey. The remainder of the day is
at leisure to relax or visit the Prince of Wales
Northern Heritage Centre on your own. (B,L)
DAY 8: Inuvik, NWT
Today a flight from Yellowknife across the
vast northern landscape takes you to Inuvik
for a two-night stay. This afternoon a town
and tundra tour will demonstrate the unique
experience of living at latitude 68 degrees
North. Overnight in Inuvik. (B)
DAY 9: Tuktoyaktuk, NWT
A morning flight to Tuktoyaktuk, located
about 80 miles north of Inuvik and can only
be reached by aircraft. You will experience
local Inuvaluit culture, unique churches and
craft shopping. Try to attain your “Arctic
Ocean Toe Dipping Certificate”. In the
afternoon return to Inuvik for dinner and
overnight. (B,D)
DAY 10: Yellowknife, NWT
Return to Yellowknife today for further
exploration and time to relax. (B)
DAY 11: Fort Simpson, NWT
Travelling south today, through Fort
Providence with a stop at Whittaker
Falls (Sambaa Deh Park) for photos. Fort
Simpson is a community dating back to
1804 and where special Papal Grounds
were built for the visit of Pope John Paul II
in 1987. We will also visit the Fort Simpson
Information Centre today. (B)
DAY 12: Fort Nelson, B.C.
Travelling along the Liard Highway, you will
be in the “Tropics of the North”. Fort Liard
